Trekking and rafting in the south of Baikal

Program of tour:
Arrival in Irkutsk. Meeting at the airport or railway station.
Transfer (70 km) to the settlement of Listvyanka, a fisherman village, located on the bank of Lake Baikal.
On the way:
Ritual stop at the famous rock of “Shaman”, that marks the headwaters of the Angara River flowing out of the mighty lake.
Listvyanka is 70 kilometers away from Irkutsk. A trip to Listvyanka is the easiest and the fastest way to see Baikal. A small square in the village's center is the place where you can buy the famous fish of Lake Baikal – omul or try some fish dishes in the nearest café.
Accommodation in a hotel. Lunch. After lunch we’ll go sightseeing.
We’ll visit the Museum of the Lake Baikal and the trading square where you’ll see a lot of local souvenirs and smoked Baikal fish on sale.
Dinner – in your own way
Early in the morning a small steam engine will take you on a 6 hour ride along the legendary Circum Baikal railroad built in the end of XIXth century.
This 84 kilometers-long railroad from Kultuk to port Baikal includes 39 tunnels with the total length of 8994 meters, 14 kilometers of supporting walls, 47 stone and 3 metal galleries.

Hiking along the river Slyadyanka valley up to the Marble ravine. On the way you’ll enjoy the virgin forests, alpine meadows and crystal clear creaks of the Khamar-Daban mountain range. Lunch. Accommodation in double tents on the bank of the river.
Length of hiking is about 20 km.
Climbing Mt. Cherskogo(2090 m). From the summit you will have a spectacular view over the southern extremity of Baikal Lake.
If the weather is fine you can even see the Sayan mountains that are located 150 km southward, on the Russian Mongolian border. After having a rest we’ll return to the camp site

Dinner and accommodation in a guest house.
The next part of your journey starts from the confluence of the rivers of Irkut and Bystraya. Preparation of catamarans. Start of rafting (3-4 hours).
There will be only a couple of rapids so you have plenty of time for hiking, photography and fishing.

This day is the most challenging part of the rafting adventure – “white water” rafting.

Rafting to the settlement of Shamanka. Packing up and transfer to Irkutsk (50 km) by minibus. Lunch
