Belukha Mountain, Mountain Narodnaya (People’s)
Mount Narodnaya (Naroda-iz in Komi language) is the highest mountain in the Urals (1895 metres) and it is located on the “Ridge of Researches” in the pre-polar Urals. It was discovered in 1927 by the Severouralsk expedition by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR under the management of A.Aleshkov. The peak, discovered on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the “Great October Revolution”, was named “Narodnaya” (People’s), in honour of the Soviet people by A.Aleshkov. Also there is a version that the mountain was named according to the name of the river Naroda which flows from slopes of Mt. Narodnaya (basin of the river Northern Sosva).
